The Lady Panthers got 2024-25 started with a home win. Spring Hill dressed two players with Varsity experience Tuesday night but despite their inexperience they jumped all over Arp in the 1st quarter on the way to a 16-6 lead after one, led by 8 points from Zariah Turner. The next two quarters were more of the same with the Panther defense creating opportunities on the break leading to a 40-18 lead going to the 4th. Spring Hill got a little stagnant in the final stanza with a shortened rotation and held on to a 41-24 win. Turner led the Panthers with a career-high 18 points. Sophomore Kinzlee Castiglione was also in double-figures with a career-high 11. The Panthers are off until next Saturday at Troup. Z. Turner - 18 K. Castiglione - 11 M. Hernandez - 4 S. The Lady Panthers traveled to Troup for the first road test of 2024 Saturday morning. Troup took an 11-7 first quarter lead. The game was back and forth in the 2nd until a 5-0 Troup burst before halftime to push it to a 22-13 game. Spring Hill continued to struggle offensively in the second half. The Panthers were able to force the Tigers into turnovers but unable to convert on the other end. Troup was able to hold on to a 34-23 win. Zariah Turner led the Panthers with 16 points including a 8/11 afternoon at the free throw line.

Spring Hill made the trip up HWY 80 to Grand Saline Tuesday evening. The Panthers got off to a great start doubling up the Lady Indians 12-6 in the first quarter. In the second Spring Hill held Grand Saline scoreless. The Lady Panthers continued to turn Indian turnovers into points in the second half on the way to a 35-21 win. Spring Hill got their third win of the season over Sabine Friday night. The Panthers offense improved throughout the night as they score 9 in the first, 10 in the 2nd, 12 in the 3rd, and finally broke things open with 16 in the 4th. Elizabeth Corbitt led the Panthers with 12 points. Freshman Ava Burnette had the best game of her young career pouring in 10 points off the bench. Spring Hill dropped a close one on the road Tuesday night at Gladewater 43-42. The Panthers scored 35 second half points after being held to seven in the first. Elizabeth Corbitt scored 17 points in, all in the 2nd half to lead the way for Spring Hill. The Panthers will travel to Union Grove Thursday through Saturday for tournament action.

Spring Hill dropped a second straight game that came down to the last second. The Panthers trailed 44-40 with less than :30 left in regulation but back to back Elizabeth Corbitt buckets on passes from Kinzlee Castiglione to send it to overtime. In the PT the Panthers had a one point lead with 15 seconds to go and got a stop on the first shot but off the offense rebound Troup threw in a 25’ three for the 2-point win, 48-46. The Panthers struggled to get going offensively in the first half with only 15 points but doubled the output with a 30-point 2nd half. The Lady Panther defense only allowed one made FG on the night. Spring Hill had been plagued by slow starts in many of the first 10 games of the season, that was not the case Tuesday night. The Panthers jumped out to a 28-3 first quarter lead on West Rusk and cruised the rest of the evening. The Lady Raiders never got it inside 20 and Spring Hill used a balanced effort to win 68-43 with senior Zariah Turner scoring 15, ten in the first quarter, and junior Elizabeth Corbitt added 17. E. Spring Hill came out slow against Sabine in a quick turnaround Friday morning after the battle with Tenaha. The Panthers lead just 8-6 after the first but the defense tightened from there. Spring Hill only allowed 10 points the rest the way for the Cardinals and held them to just 6 FGM on the day. Elizabeth Corbitt led the way with 13. Spring Hill fell 50-42 to the 2A #8 Tenaha Tigers Friday morning. The first quarter was close with the Tigers taking a 14-13 lead to the first break. The 2nd quarter the Tigers freshman star took over as they outscored the Panthers 20-8 to take a 13-pt lead to the break. After a few halftime adjustments the Panthers held Tenaha to just 5 third quarter points. Spring Hill would get as close as 3 before running out of gas and falling by 8 to the Tigers. The trip to Gilmer has not been a pleasant one the Panthers since they rejoined the district, tonight they were able to flip the script. Spring Hill had their best offensive quarter right off the bat jumping out to a 17-11 lead after the first. The teams traded baskets in the second leading to a 25-19 halftime game. The Buckeyes had the Panthers sped up in the 3rd and cut the lead to as little as 3 in the period. Spring Hill held Gilmer to just six 4th quarter points though and were able to pull out a 43-33 win on the road. Elizabeth Corbitt led the way with 14 and Savannah Irwin joined her in double figures with 13. Spring Hill starts distinct 1-0 and moves to 12-5 on the year. E. Corbitt - 14 S. Irwin - 13 C. Spring Hill dropped their first district game Saturday evening in Carthage 33-25. The Panthers locked down defensively but the offense was already on Christmas break. Spring Hill held the Bulldogs to 11 first half points and held a 3 point lead at the break. The third quarter was back and forth but Carthage put in a layup before the buzzer of the 3rd to take a 21-20 lead to the 4th. In the final stanza the Panthers frigid shooting continued despite forcing numerous Carthage turnovers with their pressure. The Bulldogs made enough free throws down the stretch to hold on to the win. Spring Hill goes to the break 14-6 overall, 3-1 and tied for second in the district with crosstown rival Pine Tree who the Panthers will get back at home Jan. 3.

Spring Hill dropped the opener of the Hawkins Holiday tournament Thursday to Tyler HEAT 35-31. The Panthers got off to a slow start coming out of the break and trailed 22-16 at the half. The 3rd quarter Spring Hill held HEAT to only 5 points but couldn’t pull back even trailing 27-23 going to the 4th. Zariah Turned down a three to cut the lead to one with 3:00 to go but the Panthers wouldn’t get any closer the rest of the way. Tomorrow morning SH will be back in action against Harmony at 8:00 am. The Panthers started slow in the 8am tip-off trailing most of the first half on the way to 19-15 deficit at the break. Spring Hill tightened things up defensively in the 2nd half holding the Lady Eagles to just 5 points each in the 3rd & 4th quarters. Spring Hill finished the Hawkins tournament with back-to-back wins and 3rd place. The Panthers took down a solid Grace Community team Saturday afternoon 48-33. All 12 players played for the Panthers. Things were close at halftime with SH holding a 18-15 lead but defense broke things open in the 3rd quarter. Spring Hill doubled up Grace 20-10 in the quarter en route to the 15 point win. Elizabeth Corbitt lead the way with 16, Savannah Irwin added 13, and Ava Burnette chipped in 8 off the bench. The Panthers will resume district play at home vs crosstown rival Pine Tree on Jan. 3. E. Spring Hill got a big win over crosstown rival Pine Tree Friday night to start district play back up coming out of the break. The Panthers jumped out to a 12-2 lead early breaking the Pirate press. Pine Tree battle back and cut the lead to six at the break 25-19. The Panthers locked down defensively in the 3rd holding PT to only 5 points in the quarter and taking a 34-24 lead to the 4th. Spring Hill was able to pull away in the final quarter and finished the game on a 20-1 run, again holding PT to only 5 fourth quarter points and a 56-29 win. Spring Hill fell to Chapel Hill Friday night 40-24 in the battle of the top two teams in the district. The first quarter was back and forth with the Bulldogs take a 11-10 lead after one. The Panthers offense went cold in the 2nd and Chapel Hill extended the lead to 19-12 at the break. Spring Hill never seemed to get the offense back on the tracks in the second half, as they tied the 3rd quarter 6-6 but got outscored by 9 in the 4th to get the final 16-pt margin. Spring Hill followed a similar pattern to game one against the Buckeyes back in December, jumped out to an early lead, let Gilmer hang around, but found a way to hang on. With that the Panthers get the season sweep of the Lady Buckeyes. Spring Hill led 26-16 at the half and pushed it to as much as 14 in the first quarter but Gilmer would get it to within 2 in the 4th before the 48-45 final. Spring Hill jumped out to a 14-1 lead in the first quarter Friday night and hoped for smooth sailing but things were anything but that. The Lady Panthers were unable to pull away the rest the night and despite have a double digit lead most the second half only got a 35-29 win on the road. Calleigh Secord tied a career-high 10 points & Kaylee Londeau joined her in double figures. It is win #20 on the season. This is the first time the Panthers have reached that number since 2011 according to MaxPreps. Spring Hill continues to hold sole possession of 2nd place in the district at 7-2. C. Secord - 10 K. Spring Hill dropped only their 2nd home game of the year Friday night. The game was back and forth the entire way with both defenses locked in. Carthage took a 15-13 lead to the break. The 3rd quarter stayed even with a 10-10 quarter and Panthers trailing by two heading to the fourth. Spring Hill took their first lead with just under 4:00 to go. With just over minute to play the Savannah Irwin knocked down two FTs to push the lead to 32-29. The Lady Dawgs answered with a 3-pt at the other end to tie the game. Spring Hill was able to break the Carthage press but missed the layup. Carthage’s leading scorer drew a foul with :04 to go and made 1 of 2 FTs to clinch the 33-32 win. Z. Turner - 10 S. Irwin - 8 K. On her senior night Zariah Turner showed up and set the tone with 9 first half points on the way to 13 on the night. Panthers locked in defensively in the first half holding the Lady Lions to only 12 points and taking a double digit lead to the locker room. Spring Hill kept the lead at a safe distance most the second half and finished things off with a 46-29 win. Spring Hill moves to 22-10 & 9-4 in the district. Spring Hill battled the district champs close all night on the road but eventually fell 35-28 at Chapel Hill. The Panthers trailed 19-11 at the half but eventually chipped away to cut it to a 23-20 game on a Kaylee Londeau buzzer 3pt to end the 3rd. But that would be as close as it would get. Chapel Hill hit two threes early in the 4th to ice things and pull away to the eventual seven-point win. Spring Hill will open up the playoffs next Monday in Arp against Brownsboro at 6:30. E. Spring Hill fell in the first round of playoffs to Brownsboro Monday night 49-34. The Bearettes jumped all over the Panthers leading to a 18-4 first quarter lead. Brownsboro stretched the halftime lead to 31-14 as SH got a putback just after the buzzer. The 3rd quarter was probably the Panthers best of the night winning 8-7 and turning up the pressure with a halfcourt trap.
